Many copycat games by Anton Sinelnikov, an indie developer, were removed from the App Shop. Shepard found it frustrating that developers copied the gameplay, branding, and assets of their original game. Keith Shepherd, the co-founder of Imangi Studios, found it admirable that developers were inspired to create unique games. These included Temple Guns and Temple Jump, Piggy Run, Zombie Run, Pyramid Run, and Zombie Run. Other developers made similar games in the wake of Temple Run’s success. The fifth entry in this series, Temple Run VR, was released for the Samsung Gear VR headset. Temple Run: Oz was published on December 23, 2014.
